Star Village Social Committee was registered as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) regulated by the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR), Scottish Charity number: SC048230 in March 2018.
Formerly Star Village Committee, Star Village Social Committee comprises a group of volunteers from the community who manage the running of the Village Hall on behalf of Fife Council. The Committee aims to promote and facilitate social events for the community and raises funds to contribute to repairs and improvements to the building and community activities.
The Village Social Committee members work hard to create a portfolio of social events and activities to appeal to the local residents and welcome any suggestions you may have.
The committee delegates the organisation of the two flagship events--Star Flower Show and Star Gala--to two sub-committees, also made up of volunteers from the local community.
COVID19 - Coronavirus Announcement
In line with the latest guidance from Central Government and its health advisors regarding the current situation around COVID-19 or Coronavirus, Star Village Social Committee has decided to cancel all social events and activities at the Village Hall until further notice.
Thus, all regular classes, meetings, social groups and activities (Dance Class, Carpet Bowls, Women’s Institute, History & Heritage Group, Community Council) are suspended until further notice and the VE75 Day celebrations planned for May to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day as part of a national initiative have been cancelled.
This decision has not been taken lightly, and will be kept under constant review, however, Star Village Social Committee has the health and welfare of all hall users, staff, volunteers and event attendees (as well as their families and friends) at the forefront of any decision-making process at this time.
We would request that our community follows Government guidance as far as possible in relation to self-isolation and minimising non-essential social contact, but remain mindful of your more vulnerable neighbours who may need additional support during this unprecedented and difficult time.
Apologies for any inconvenience and many thanks in advance for your understanding in this matter.
Star Village Social Committee Needs You!
Star Village Social Committee is a registered charity with a board of up to ten trustees. Its aims are to maintain and manage the Village Hall so that it may be used as a facility for education, recreation, leisure and community development. We are always looking for new and exciting ideas for events that will enrich our lives in Star. Gigs, talks, crafts, fitness classes and maybe even a community cinema (one day!) are the kind of things we organise.
Every year at its AGM, the trustees step down and stand for re-election. Anyone from the village can stand for election to join the committee as a trustee.
Trustees occupy several roles (the names of the current post-holders are in brackets):
Chairperson (Nick Brian)
Secretary (Nick Brian)
Treasurer (Ian Miles)
Bookings Officer (Gayle Forsyth)
Health & Safety Officer (vacant)
Policy Officer (Ian Miles)
and general trustees:
Bowls Rep (William Hodge)
SWI Rep (Cathie Calley)

What are they and when are they available?
Funded by Star Community Council, Star Village Social Committee purchased two high quality gazebos in 2018 for use by community groups such as Star Gala and to be available for hire to residents of Star. Measuring 3m x 3m, the sturdy, easy to assemble white gazebos can be booked by contacting Star Village Social Committee.
